1. Virtual Memory

Commands for selecting the virtual memory (VM) space used by new composite objects.

2. Overview

PostScript Level 2 provides local and global VM. The allocation mode determines where new arrays, strings, and dictionaries are created; changing the mode does not relocate existing objects.

Preserve and restore the caller’s allocation mode when temporarily changing it. Global composite objects cannot contain references to local composite objects.
